September 3rd

I had the great honor of photographing an old roommates wedding yesterday in Minnesota. It was only appropriate that her mom had a huge painting of angles in her room because when she came and moved in with me I felt like she was an angel sent to me. I was not having great roommate experiences at the time and she was amazing. I had not seen her in years and just fell right back where we left off. I love friends like that. She did all her own flowers and was as girly as I remember her. Her groom Skip was the nicest guy, and you really felt like you had known him always. Congratulations Riley and Skip, it was such a beautiful wedding, you both are a great inspiration. Here are some shots I just love.

Hank turns one

I have done a couple first year plans, it has been great to watch them grow. And Hank turns one! we had a great time at the beach, the light was amazing, about to rain so it was nice and cloudy. I wish everyday about 3pm it could be like that so I would have more time to photograph. Here are some of Hank.

Attention Shreveport!

Studio

I have to admit, I thought I did not enjoy photographing in the studio, I really have to work a little harder then I do outside. I can look at the lighting outside and see it immediately, studio I struggle a little and it teaches me patience! I have shot a couple really like these. The little girl has the prettiest eyes, she was such a doll, and the little boy coming toward me was so cute. I really had fun, it is nice to do something a little different.

Tybee

Went to Tybee a couple weeks ago for a week. I really thought I would not feel like I was on vacation, but it really feels far from Savannah. This is a photo of Alexa and her Grandma. Alexa likes to take care of business on the phone, hmm might have to put her to work soon!

Saturday

Went to Hull Park this morning with baby bean (aka Alexa) she is really starting to copy everything we say, and today she ran around in the water and had a great time. She usually runs off so it was fun to actually sit and watch her play instead of chasing.
I love days like today.

I just adore this family. I have been photographing them for the last three years almost and they are moving! I hate when clients move, I love seeing there kids get older. I really like these photos because her good friend and I snuck over while she was at work and took these, I do not know if her two and half year old son was able to keep it quiet but we did great. It is amazing how fast we did these. Her little girl is about the same age as my sweet Alexa, and they were going to be in the same class at mothers morning out. Ansley I coming down to onion town.

Very exciting day yesterday. Received a call from People Magazine! I was so thrilled to be asked to come to the hospital and photograph Paula Deens new grandson Jack. He is so handsome, and is already in a magazine.

Rainy Days

Sometimes a rainy wedding day gives you unexpected photos, ones I might not have done if I could have gone outside.

Mansion

Had a great shoot today at the mansion with the cutest couple. We had such a fun time. I can not wait to see her the day of her wedding, I thought she was stunning.

Wormsloe

If you haven't been to Wormsloe you should go. It is so beautiful and so Savannah. There is a wonderful row of oak trees for about two miles. I photographed this cute little girl today, thought we were going to have to reschedule since weather came in all of a sudden but cleared a half hour later. She just was so sweet and I do not think I heard one word from her, but she knew exactly what i was looking for when i asked her.

Ashley

Ashleys wedding was beautiful, she really did not leave any detail out. She left in the dress her Grandmother had worn and had a beautiful custom made gown. The reception had great food and an awesome band. I thought these were some nice shots from there wedding.

Alexa

A photo of alexa and alisha, I have spent every fourth of july with them as a child that I can remember.


It really takes alot to tire out Alexa. Going full force all day she finally was tired. I love it when she is that tired because she will actually snuggle with me instead of wiggling. She fell asleep tonight with me rocking her on my chest, it was so nice, I can sit and play with her hair and really just sit and stare at her. She really brightens my day after a long day it is great to come home to a warm house. (and not because it is 105 outside.) Here are some recent shots of her.

Yacht Club

This baby looked so much like her daddy. What a great family they have. I have met about everyone in there family and they are related to about everyone in town. Just really love them and am so honored they let me in to take photos of there special day.


I really liked this photo, the mom has several great paintings at her house from Chroma Gallery of marsh and she wanted to make sure the marsh was in.


I photographed this cute little baby today. I have photograhed her two other times and she is ten months! She really has grown and I think her mom is so fun to photograph. The baby was not in a great mood tonight but eventually she gave in and smiled for me. The light was so pretty and this baby just makes the cutest faces.

home

There is no place like home. I went home to Florida the last four days and had a great time. I saw my neice cute sweet Chole and relaxed a little. I was able to celebrate my brothers birthday and see him for a little while which was really nice. I also took some photos, I wanted a photo so bad of the two of them since they are six weeks apart, but Alexa who I am sure is just sick of mom taking her photo was not going to make it easy. I still thought the photo was cute though.

South Carolina

Drove to South Carolina yesterday and photographed a family. I had photographed one of the families for several years and I am always thrilled when they have me come up to there vacation. Losing my Grandma the night before made me a little more sappy then I am already. It is really neat when you see a extended family get together, it makes me think of how to cherish my own family and to get together more often then we do. Time goes so fast, they were nice enough to show me a slide show of there fifty year anniversary, you see Christmas dinner table photos, Disney world. It was really special. Thank you Betsy for including me in your family vacation, I had a great time. Here are a couple photos from yesterday, I just love this little girl, her eyes just shine.

Lucy & Brian

I had a great time this weekend photographing Lucy & Brian. They were great, Lucy was stunning, her dress was amazing. She told me she really wanted some artistic shots, when she showed me what she was looking for I immediately thought of one of my favorite photograhers Julia Margaret Cameron. She did alot of soft focus, soft edges. I thought these images really reflect that, that you can not put a date on them. Lucy & Brian made it really easy for me, Brian was into phtoography and had a great lens, and camera, I had a small amount of lens envy!

Grandmas

I took these yesterday, I thought the lighting was interesting in the room with the little girl. The little boy showed me his skywalker moves and he reminded me of when my brother was little and his starwars figures, he had them all lined up and ready to go.

The Grandma of this baby came in and was so proud of her cute little baby. I just loved how in love she was.It is really great when people are so excited about sharing there lives with you. Photography is really a personal thing. When I start to photograph it feels like a dance, you have to see and interact and think about composition, exposure, light, get your subjects to feel comfortable with you. If I had to name a dance it would sometimes be the waltz and sometimes the tango. I always feel right at home with my camera, it is like coming home to an old friend.

I did not intend for this to be a blog about Alexa, but I just can not help myself. She gave me my first kiss today. The day I took these photos I just let her go to town. i am not very good about putting on a bib, so now when I try she just rips it off. SHe also is into sticking her tounge out. I just can not get enough of her.

family

It has been great the last couple of weeks, I am almost caught up! My friend Bart Young shot these of Scott, Alexa, and myself. I just love them. It was really windy out last night so I was a little bummed but we got some great images anyhow! I now know what my clients go through, I kept thinking what am I going to wear? My hair!

Cherub

Have a great time photograping for this childrens store. This little girl was great, and of course the cloths were great as well. I just love the energy in these photos.

alexas first sailing trip

Had a great couple days off in Florida with my family. Went sailing the fourth and saw fireworks from the boat, also a water spout started to form but went away thank goodness! Alexa was so good, such an angel on the boat. I swear this week she seems less of baby and she is understanding more and more. It makes me a little sad when she wants to do things on her own. i wish I could bottle her sweet smell and expressions.
