Aritist Friends

I started writing about my friends who are artists about a month ago and it made me think about it today. I was strolling through the Savannah Airport I looked and felt myself having to remember to breath. I saw the back of this guys head that looked just like Jack and it took my breath away. I stopped for a second and looked twice, how strange is that since he has been gone for about four years. I think about him often and how he impacted my career and me personally. He was an amazing inspiration, I worked for him for about two years and cried like a big baby when I had to tell him I couldn't do it anymore. He was a true artist, quick to give you a big bear hug and tell you a story about one of his photographs. I miss you Jack and part of me was hoping when I saw this guy that maybe it was all a mistake and you had just gone on a much needed vacation.

Here are some photos I pulled off the internet

Katherine Sandoz (artist friend #2)

I probably have said this before on my blog. I remember the first time I saw a Katherine Sandoz painting, I was 20 and it was at the Gallery Espresso on Liberty Street. I wanted one so bad but at the time she was asking $75.00 and that might has well been $5000 dollars to me. I wish now I would have gathered them all up because she is a woman in demand. I now have two Katherine Sandoz and I love them. Her blog also seems to be right on the same line as things that pass through my head but I am not a strong writer like her. Check her website out first before her blog at katherinesandoz.com Here is a snippet from her blog and one of her paintings

Just when you think you should give it up, someone (or something) makes you think maybe you’ll do it for one or two more days. (exhibition review here)

Of course, how ridiculous is that? The very day I started thinking to quit painting, I also spend two hundred dollars on art supplies.

Artist Friends

I have all these talented friends and it dawned on me today, since I have some time alone in a hotel room that I should share. Let me just start by saying how much I adore Julie. I look at her blog (juliecollinsphotography.com) and her images make me forget to breath. They really take my breath away. She assisted me for awhile before her family moved back home to Washington and we miss her so much. photos below by Julie Collins Photography.
