Twice a month I try to photograph military families that are deploying to give them some family memories that they can look at while on their long deployment. They are always so thankful but I really wish I could express to them how thankful I am to them, my brother in law is a Navy Seal and was deployed for seven months and I was lost for words then as well. So thank you thank you to everyone in the military, I hope even if I can not say in words you can see my heart. So if your spouse is deploying, or coming back send me an email.

I was instantly taken with this cute little baby, she reminded me so much of Alexa with that hair. It is so wonderful to experience families with a new baby. The world seems alright and pretty perfect with a new baby, and you can not imagine how you could love someone so much and just sit and cry just looking at them and how perfect they are to you.

Vicki and Jed
Unless you have been living under a rock in the photography world you would know who Jed and Vicki from VGallery are. When she first walked in I almost felt like I had just seen a movie star. I know it sounds corny and maybe a little psycho, but they are amazing photographers, business partners, and most importantly very nice and more human then I ever thought! They have an amazing studio in Illinois and they are the second workshop i have ever been too. It was wonderful, brought me a little peace, inspiration and new friends. Vicki made me feel like the only person there, and really were able to connect with her one on one and in a group. Thank you guys for sharing your story, your stumbles, your success. I will never forget two days with the both of you, I look forward to seeing you in the future. Thank you again. and again. Here are a few people I met last week, I wish I would have taken one of everyone. Vicki is the girl with the star shirt and Jed, he the guy with beard.

Inspired
I am fortunate to do what I love, photographing brings me such joy. It is easy sometimes to get a rut, feel overwhelmed, and just like there is not enough time in the day. I went to a workshop in Illinois this past week and it left me feeling so inspired. I was able to meet people I admire, meet new friends, and was able to look outside of the busy days I had before and see how blessed I am. I will share some photos later from that, but here are a few families that I just love.

Katherine Sandoz (artist friend #2)
I probably have said this before on my blog. I remember the first time I saw a Katherine Sandoz painting, I was 20 and it was at the Gallery Espresso on Liberty Street. I wanted one so bad but at the time she was asking $75.00 and that might has well been $5000 dollars to me. I wish now I would have gathered them all up because she is a woman in demand. I now have two Katherine Sandoz and I love them. Her blog also seems to be right on the same line as things that pass through my head but I am not a strong writer like her. Check her website out first before her blog at katherinesandoz.com Here is a snippet from her blog and one of her paintings
your day job
Filed in paint hen , the henhouse , corrections
Just when you think you should give it up, someone (or something) makes you think maybe you’ll do it for one or two more days. (exhibition review here)
Of course, how ridiculous is that? The very day I started thinking to quit painting, I also spend two hundred dollars on art supplies.

Artist Friends
I have all these talented friends and it dawned on me today, since I have some time alone in a hotel room that I should share. Let me just start by saying how much I adore Julie. I look at her blog (juliecollinsphotography.com) and her images make me forget to breath. They really take my breath away. She assisted me for awhile before her family moved back home to Washington and we miss her so much. photos below by Julie Collins Photography.
